A53 Test requirements for seamless and welded steel pipes
Hydrostatic test pressures are specified for plain, threaded and connected pipes. The hydrostatic pressure shall be maintained for not less than 5 seconds for all sizes of seamless and ERW pipe.
Mechanical testing:
Tensile test: For NPS 8 and larger sizes of ERW, two transverse tests are required, one across the weld and the other opposite the weld.
Crush Test: For NPS 2 and larger, STD and XS wall ERW (not required for XXS pipe)
Bend test (cold): for NPS 2 and below, XS wall and below; for NPS 1-1/4 and below, XXS wall
