Pressure vessel pipeline welding requirements and techniques

02.27.2024

In the production and manufacturing process of pressure vessels, welding is an important component. How to perform welding operations correctly is a prerequisite for ensuring the quality of welds. Today, Shandong Zhongjie Special Equipment will tell you the basic requirements for welding operation methods:

1. When welding pressure components of pressure vessels, arcs must not be struck on the surface of the welding parts, and scratches on the workpieces to be welded must be avoided, and arcing between cables, welding clamps and welding parts must be prevented. The arced areas must be polished to make them consistent with the base metal. Even transition. The welding machine cable and the weldment must be firmly connected.

2. If defects such as pores, slag inclusions, cracks, etc. are found during the welding process of pressure vessels, they should be promptly removed and repaired. If serious cracks are found, they should be reported to the quality inspection department and welding will be carried out after treatment.
3. Multi-layer and multi-pass welding should be used when welding medium and thick plates. The next welding can only be carried out after the previous weld (layer) has been cleaned (including removing welding slag, pores, cracks and other defects).

4. Heat-resistant steel welding should be welded immediately after preheating, and the preheating temperature should meet the standard requirements. If the workpiece cools below the preheating temperature during the production process, it must be reheated before welding. Immediately after welding, slow cooling measures should be taken to the weld to allow it to cool slowly. When welding pipes, airflow in the pipes should be prevented and the welding should be completed in one go.

5. For double-sided welds, generally after the front side is welded, carbon arc gouging can be used on the back side (technical conditions stipulate that when carbon arc gouging cannot be used, mechanical processing methods should be used) to clean the welding root (including removing welding slag, pores, cracks, etc. defects) before welding.
