PAUT flaw detection, ultrasonic phased array flaw detection

02.19.2025

PAUT flaw detection, ultrasonic phased array flaw detection:
According to the set delay law, each independent array element of the phased array probe is excited, the sound beam is synthesized, and then the ultrasonic signal is collected according to a certain receiving law and the internal state of the pressure pipeline is displayed in the form of an image.

Advantages:
The detection rate of area and volume defects of pressure pipelines is high.
Fast detection speed, flexible use, reliable detection results,
High-speed, all-round and multi-angle detection can be achieved.

Disadvantages:
It has just been put into use in the industry, and the actual effect remains to be observed. NB/T47013.15-2021 has relevant descriptions on this type of non-destructive testing; GB/T20801.5-6.3.2.3 does not describe the relevant requirements for this type of non-destructive testing when used in pressure pipeline projects. In actual production projects, this testing method has been gradually applied to the detection of girth welds (such as small-diameter pipe butt joints, heat exchange pipe cap welds, etc.) of oil and gas pipelines (materials in ASTM A106B API 5L specifications and GB/T 9711-2021 standards), pipe weld detection, and pipe material detection.
